#24 – Electoral College
Can we finally get rid of this piece of archaic section in our constitution? The idea that the few can decide who will lead the many is anything but democratic. The reasons and challenges that brought on the Electoral College system have long since passed. Twice in our recent history, a president was selected by the minority. In both cases, it was and still is very controversial. This does not bold well for a nation that is supposed to lead by example when it comes to democracy and freedom. The younger generation no longer feel bound by states. They feel like Americans regardless of where they live. People have more association with the city they live in rather than the state. John Carter and his party refuse to even discuss this, let alone debate the issue in Congress. It is a desperate attempt by them to hold on to power. It’s time to put this part of our constitution in the history books where it belongs.
